Can some identify this geode? It was found in upstate New York in a flat sandy plain 1/4 away from the Hudson River. The geode is approximately 3" long, brown exterior, 1/4" "shell" gray , and 1 1/2" center made of what appears to be a dense mineral.

  • $\begingroup$ what makes you think it is a geode? can we see a close up of the texture, it looks more like sawmarks on the outside than a change in grain structure. $\endgroup$ – John Jun 27 '18 at 0:52
  • $\begingroup$ you need to provide a lot more information about it,and it is obviously cut by some tool but you do not mention this in your question. $\endgroup$ – trond hansen Jun 27 '18 at 11:58

It is a uniform rock, possibly granite and it have been cut in half by an angle grinder.

the shape of the rock suggests it have been shaped by water in a river or on a beach.
