Found this in Souris, Manitoba. The lines are on both sides.
What could this be?

$\begingroup$ Looks like strange lines to me but I would suggest you give some photos from other angles. If it is a fossil the only thing I can think is it is petrified wood, the reason being the top portion of the piece shows what looks to be agate or chert, both are common forms of petrified wood. $\endgroup$ – Friddy Oct 2 '18 at 23:13

  • $\begingroup$ Souris has several forms of amorphous silica, and the translucent part looks like opal or chalcedony. $\endgroup$ – Spencer Oct 7 '18 at 21:51
