Can someone tell me what this? I found it in my yard buried under a tree we cut down. My home was built in the 1960’s and the “boy” whose parents built the house burried his rock collection. His collection was from all over the US. He is now in his 60-70’s.

I have tried the tile, pen, and knife test. The knife test scratches off the black, but not the brown or green. All I know is it was found in the mid west. It is 6”x 3 1/2”. It is appropriately heavy for its size.

$\begingroup$ You're going to need to provide better information on the rock details as indicated in this guide to asking identification questions, and a better picture (try turning your phone sideways and perhaps getting a bit closer to at least fill the image size. $\endgroup$ – JeopardyTempest Nov 7 '18 at 23:54

$\begingroup$ It is very difficult to tell for sure without knowing more about where it is originally from, or doing some other tests. My best guess is that the green is chrysoprase, which is a green form of chalcedony - which is a form of quartz like flint or agate. $\endgroup$ – haresfur Nov 8 '18 at 1:15
