I'm working with Well Logs and I want to calibrate my Vshale model with the clays from an XRD analysis that I have from the lab. There are muscovite and biotite, chlorite (secondary), detrital clay and authigenic clay.

When making the calibration, do I have to take into account all the clays that the XRD analysis gave me or just some of the clays, such as chlorite, illite, and smectite for example?

  • I am native speaker of English. I may be old fashioned, but I do not understand your question. I am also bemused by your usage of the word count. Do you mean account?. Are you asking, Is it correct to sum them all and that's it, or what should I take on account when making this calibration? – Fred Dec 5 at 16:52
  • Sorry, I'm not a native english speaker, I'm still learning, thank you for the correction. I want to know if I have to take in account all the clays that the XRD analysis gave me or just chlorite illite and smectite for example – Nicolas Cordoba Dec 5 at 17:07
  • @Nicola_Cordoba: based on your additional comments, I reworded your question to make it clearer. If this does not suit you please change my alterations. – Fred Dec 5 at 17:24
  • @Fred thank you for your help, I appreciate it – Nicolas Cordoba Dec 5 at 19:09
