I am officially abandoning https://earthscience.stackexchange.com. The decision to not identify rocks or minerals I feel excludes significant and important part of the earth science specifically for the less educated. Basic questions on rocks and minerals are the foundation of all earth science and without it none of the more complex theories and models could be developed.

If the original stackoverflow would have objected to answering simple computer science and programming questions the site would have failed to gather the following it has today.
