One explanation is that the theory that co2 makes temeratures rise is incorrect, but this is a very unpopular idea to mention. Anyone care to link to a graph that show co2 lagging temperature for the last few thousand years??

Some good news for the OP however (before I get written off as unhelpful. ...!) Apparently once pH reaches 8.3, remaining limestone no longer reacts and drops out of solution....so no need to worry about 'overdosing' really.
To correct what someone said earlier....There is no acidity to neutralise, the ocean is 8.1, it was 8.2...it is alkali not acid. ..to neutralise it would be the opposite way you want....
